EARLY! This is a hand written and signed document for the sale of the Negro Hamton and Negress Nance. Pay William Dent $140 originally and $818 now. Signed by Nathaniel Griggs and (?) Griggs. Witnessed by Thomas and Jemima Squires. The 1820 Census puts William Dent in Warren, Kentucky and owner of no slaves. The only Nathaniel Griggs I could find was one who lived in Captain Finn's District in Hancock, Georgia. He was married and had two laves (Hamton and Nance???). State:Kentucky City: Date:1817 ID#45533
