Two key banking documents from the gold rush town of Folsom, located on the American River. A huge amount of gold was mined in and along the American River, with Folsom as the focal point. Towns such as Mormon Bar nearby mined millions in placer gold. Gold Rush banker C.T.H. Palmer ran the Granite Banking House at Folsom, and was also the Wells Fargo agent. A Jan. 30, 1864 receipt from that bank is here. Also present is a Wells Fargo First of Exchange issued to C.T.H. Palmer, 1867 with a red California 20c First of Exchange state revenue stamp. Both items are very rare.
