Low certificate No. 14, issued for 88 shares to FW Pitcher, company president, on Oct. 3rd, 1888. Signed by Pitcher and also the secretary Ableman). Not cancelled. Vignette of green arch with keystone. Printed by Stewart, Warren & Co., NY. Pinholes, top left corner has small fold, bottom right has small discoloration, etc. Not listed in C&L. Burchard (1881) reports them developing flumes for washing on an extensive scale. In 1882, he reports that the Keystone placers have been continually operated with successful results. In 1884, Burchard only reports on a different Keystone Mine in Gilpin County. An 1898 court case (The Federal Reporter Volume 86) says the company had seven claims (incl. the four above) on the San Miguel River; that all were located prior to 1882; that prior to 1889, the claims were worked as placer mines; and that after 1889 (and up to 1892), hydraulic mining was used.
