This is a most lavish mining prospectus imaginable. Either the owners had incredibly high hopes for these mines or this was a scam! One might say it was a “Wizard of Oz” fantasy! First on the list of officers is the president Benjamin W. Baum and last on the list is the superintendent Addison L. Page. General Addison L. Page would bounce around from mining camp to mining camp in Nevada. The prospectus tells us he was one of the first mining men to arrive in Austin. There he was appointed as General (honorary) of the Lander Guards. In 1867 he would receive a presentation sword from Colonel David E. Buel (of the Sanitary Sack of Flour fame). Baum is most probably most known as the father of L. Frank Baum, the author of the “Wizard of Oz.”

A digital search of OCLC tuned up 'zero' copies. We are aware of three copies. This is pristine and the only one that has a map! The map measures 19.5 x 23". The map not only shows the 2 properties owned by the Keystone, but many others including the Oregon, North Star, Savage, Mills & White, Lander, Henry Clay, Ethan Allen, etc. Map has heavy folding, but not rips or tears even at folds. The prospectus is 77 pages. 9 x 5.5". This prospectus has a long wonderful history of Reese River Mining District as related in 1865. Almost territorial! The prospectus was published within a year of Nevada statehood.
