2 very early publications of the Klondike region of Yukon, north-western Alaska/ Canada.
According to reports, 100,000 prospectors came to the Klondike region between 1896 and 1899. Gold was first discovered there by local miners on August 16, 1896 (Bonanza Creek); when news reached Seattle and San Francisco the following year, it triggered a stampede of prospectors.
