Very early! Inc. in New York. No. 16, issued for 7,000 shares to Oliver H. Wales on June 25th, 1864. Signed by the president (illegible) and secretary A.B. Proal. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Two mining vignettes: underground (top center) and prospector on the surface (bottom left). Printed by J.O. Seymour & Co., NY. One 25 cent UR adhesive stamp attached at upper left, cancelled. Pinholes, folds, creases, some age discoloration, as to be expected for an 1864 stock. 7.25 x 10.75" According to Hollister, 1867, the company was represented by George C. Munson and operated near Empire, Clear Creek County. They owned property on Tenth Legion and a 24-stamp water mill on Clear Creek, "one of finest water powers and mills in Colorado."
