Spectacular pictorial flask with an Elk in deep red Amber, heavy world. Gem mint, with handle intact. This bottle is from a well-known major western collection who chooses to remain anonymous. These bottles are almost never seen, as noted by Thomas. Most of the less than a dozen known examples have the handle broken off. The bottle is thought to be mid 1880s, made by a German glassmaker, who appears to have made a number of the deep red Amber fifths used in California at that time. This is one of the great embossed California whiskey bottles, a beauty, and a gem for any advanced collection. State:California City:San Francisco Date: ID#46409
