It was located in Last Chance Gulch, near the corner of Bridge St. and Warren St. It then became the Merchants National Bank from 1882-1898, then Union Bank & Trust Co. 1898-1959. Hershfield also had a banking business in Virginia City, Montana. This is an important collection documenting the central role the Chinese community played in Western mining camps.
