Ann Vernon was married to Joseph W Vernon who was a painter in the 1870 census. Joseph Vernon was stock certificate holder of the Alabama Gold & Silver Mining Company #2. Stuart (often spelled Stuard) was an important early resident of Markleeville. He had 240 acres of land between Woodfords and Fredricksburg. He was also a lumberman, deputy sheriff and store owner. Later in life he has a stage station in the Fredricksburg/Paynesville area.
