Although a later stock, this has a lot going for it. It is a G. T. Brown lithograph (San Francisco's early African American lithographer). It was a company that was incorporated in Silver City's heyday. Incorporated April 16, 1863. # 241 for 100 shares to the company. Signed by FE Licty and president HJ Tilden(?). Dateline San Francisco 1877. Two vignettes: Beehive and Smelter. Discoloration bottom right. The Lady Franklin was in the same vicinity as the Buckeye No. 1 and 2, IXL and Exchequer; had a long history of living "off the laurels of her neighbors." In September of 1864 was about to commence work. It mad e acomback int he 1870's. The Lady Franklin patented 50 acres in 1875. In 1876 a two-compartment shaft was down 50', of which 30' was timbered, and was going down "as fast as possible without machinery"; grading was being done for a building over the shaft. Tilden owned ltwo los in Silver Mountain City.
