1. Batavia Gold & Silver Mining Company Stock, # 32 for 10 shares to P Monroe. Datelined San Francisco 1863. Signed by secretary William T Stanford and president S DeWolfe. Incorporated Aug. 12, 1863. Mines located on the Guttenberg Ledge, Lander County, N. T. Kenny & Alexander printers. Vignette of a lion in the desert. Small 20c and 5c Agreement Revenue stamps. Original trustees were DeWolfe, Stanford, WS Higgins, P Chandler, and JS Wall. Batavia was incorporated by the same group that did the Marie Muller, Guttenberg, Bonita, Pomona, etc. Stanford and Monroe incorporated 9 mining companies on the same day. I could not find any information on any of these mines. SCAM? Notes on Stanford [suspended from S. F. Stock Exchange], De Wolfe and their Nevada mining properties included.
2.Honest Miner G&S MC Stock with Vignette of an Honest Miner, # 205 for 5 shares issued to H. W. Bradley on March 5, 1864 from San Francisco. Signed by secretary J. A. Drinkhouse and president H. H. Allen. All three are members of the Front Street Consortium. Incorporated July 10, 1863. 25c Bond revenue stamp. Not cancelled. Vignette of an 'Honest Miner." Britton & Co printer. Underprint 'Lander Co. N. T.' Wrinkles, corner folds and toning upper left. Tear lower right. Overall very nice. Bradley, Allen and Drinkhouse were all members of the Front Street Consortium of San Francisco. The Honest Miner shows only assessments and no real production. Not very honest!!! Notes on the Front Street Consortium of San Francisco and officers.
