Two volumes of the San Francisco Directory compiled by Henry G. Langley in 1867 and 1870. Both volumes begin with a Progress of the City report and a Chronological History of Principal Events. These are followed by a General Review of the city's schools, societies, cemeteries, military, fire department, railroads, banks, libraries, water and gas companies, etc. The directory gives an alphabetical list of residents, their occupations, and their addresses. A street guide and classified business directory are also included. Appendix includes a copy of the Consolidation Act with Amendments. Business advertisements are included throughout both volumes. The name of E. Chiatovich & Co. is printed on the top page edges of the 1870 volume. Chiatovich had a ranch in Esmerelda County, Nevada. The 1867 volume has a foldout Railroad Map of the City of San Francisco opposite the title page. 9.25 x 6.25, fragile, binding is split and pages are loose. Covers of the 1867 volume are detached.
