The San Francisco Directory for the Year Commencing May 1893: Embracing an Accurate Index of Residents and a Business Directory; Also A Guide to Streets, Public Offices, etc. and a reliable map of the City (Map is missing): Together with the Officers of Municipal Government; Societies and Other Organizations, and a great variety of useful information. Twenty-Fourth Year of Publication. Edward M. Adams, Manager. Publication Office 518 Clay St. San Francisco. Geo. B. Wilbur, Receiver of Painter & Co., Publisher. 1893 1703 pages in all: 28 pages of ads in front on yellow cardstock, including endpaper, ads in back and endpaper. Map was torn out before title page and title page is scotch taped along binding edge to repair tears from map removal, and title page edge has slight wear from extending further than other pages. All other pages appear to be present and in pretty good condition. This book is a huge. Photographs on many ads. A fascinating history filled with interesting details. Some discoloration, no rips or tears. Overall inside pages are very good for age. Original spine and covers. Both green covers are in very good shape, with green still vibrant and all print still dark and clear, wear to edges not too bad. Spine is worn with damage and rub to edges, heavy shelf wear, but still intact and legible. Spine is intact and no splits inside covers! An old sticker is affixed to spine "S. F. 1893" but only obscures "Langley Directory" on spine. This book originally belonged to the Oakland Chief of Police, according to stamp on reverse of title page. It is also ex Oakland Public Library, as stamped inside covers and on first and last ad pages. See photos for condition details.
