Limited first edition, profusely illustrated with over 100 black-and-white photographic plates. This is book #415 presented to E.R. Brown. With fascinating images of the railroad being built and of towns such as Laramie, Steamboat Springs, Hayden, Vernal, Meeker, and Grand Junction, and reports on agriculture, mining and other local activities likely to benefit from the construction of a railroad. At the time this volume was produced, the section of the railroad from Laramie to Coalmont in Colorado had already been completed, with projected sections from Northgate to Steamboat Springs and from Steamboat Springs on into the Du Chesne Valley of Utah, with another line connecting to Denver. "It is not published as a prospectus for the purpose of selling the stocks of the company, as the company has no stock to dispose of, its entire capital being in the hands of the public. It is published in order that investors who may be interested may secure official information as to the scope and plans of this great company, and that bankers and brokers may have information in their statistical files for reference for themselves and customers." The railroad was later bought by the Union and Pacific; most of its tracks have since been removed. Tissue intact with a slight notch tear. Cover flypage detached, some bump wear on board corners. Please see photographs for more detail and condition.
