Here are four large pieces of high-grade ore material from the Ophir Hill Mining District in Tooele County, Utah. the largest is aoub 13.5 inches long and holds massive pyrite seams between lighter colored country rock. There is evidence of chalcopyrite, galena, and possibly bornite in the mix. Another large piece, approximately 10x7 inches across, has a 1.5-inch diamond drill hole right through it and contains pyrite and probably other sulfide minerals filling cracks within the lighter-colored material. A third piece has pyrite crystals in a matrix of dark and light calcite or dolomite, The fourth piece is a tabular mass of pyrite and probably other sulfides that was probably broken out of a fracture. It is approximately 5x6 inches across and about 1/2 inch thick. These would make intriguing display pieces.
