One of the most striking certs we have seen. Red on blue paper. Gold imprint seal. Certainly the fanciest border we have ever seen with statue, dragon and portrait vignettes. Three black vignettes on certificate: allegorical, Native American and surveying. # 39 for 10 shares to Ira Z Mason Basta. Signed by FM (?) and president AH Duncan. Not cancelled. Logo "Peace and Prosperity" around allegorical vignette with 'Philippines', 'Cuba' and 'Puerto Rico' coming out of a cornucopia. Unlike most large size (13x10") this cert is in amazing condition with not serious issues. This was a nine mile electric railroad nine miles up Gallinas Canyon from Las Vegas to the Las Vegas Hot Springs, Montezuma Hotel and other resorts. It was also used to transport ice to the Southern Pacific refrigerator cars. Described as highly profitable, it went through several corporate changes. Its demise was in 1913 when the resort had declined. Ken Prag Collection
