20 x 26" acrylic of the water tower on the bank of the Truckee River for the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. The rock wall in this scene was the support of the south bank of the river for the iron bridge. The tower was razed in 1953. By Ruth Hilts.

A Native Nevadan, Ruth Hilts worked in several mediums over the years. The paintings reflect her love of the high desert country. She is noted for her "Nevada Earth' series in which she made pigments from soils, rocks and minerals of the Nevada desert. She has received several awards for her work, and her paintings are in many corporate collections, including the Nevada Museum of Art.
