Originally named Lawrence & Upper Mississippi in 1850. Changed to Indianapolis, Cincinnati & Lafayette on Dec 1, 1855. Reorganized and purchased in 1873 as Indianapolis, Cincinnati & Lafayette. In 1880 line merged and became Cincinnati, Indianapolis, St. Louis & Chicago Railroad. Merger in June, 1889 changed to Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad.
