This lot showcases a quartet of leading ladies from the 1930's to the 1950's, by way of inscribed and autographed 5"x 7" B&W photos. Included are Jeanne Cagney (1919-1984) the sister of James Cagney, who appeared with him in "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Also included is Merle Oberon (1911-1979), an Indian born actress, best known for her roles in "The Private Life of Henry VIII" and as Cathy to Laurence Olivier's Heathcliff in "Withering Heights." Next, we have Helen Parrish (1923-1959) whose first role at the age of four (4) was that of Babe Ruth's daughter in the 1927 sports comedy "Babe Comes Home." Last, but certainly not least, is one of my personal favorites, Una Merkel (1903-1986), who played W.C. Fields' daughter in "The Bank Dick", Ann Rutledge to Walter Huston's Lincoln in 1930's "Abraham Lincoln" and many other comedies beginning in the Silent era of Hollywood as a stand-in for star Lillian Gish. Signatures are clear. Please see photos for more detail and condition. State:California City:Hollywood Date:1930-1940 Provenance: Salvatore Falcone Collection
