Lot of 3 different. 1) Climax Mining Company. Inc. in New York. No. 5845, issued for 100 shares to Geo. Girty in 1882. Signed by president Harry Allen and the secretary. Not cancelled. Green border, black print, and farming vignette. 7 x 10" Pinholes, folds. The Climax was 1500 x 300 ft. on Fryer Hill. Assay at 25% lead and 20 ounces silver per ton. [C&L, pg. 404-405] 2) Brookland Mining Company. Inc. in Colorado. No. 90, issued for 500 shares in 1882. Signed by president Thos. Adams and secretary James Durant. Stamp cancelled and hole punched on left border. Black border and print, no vignette, but map of claims on the reverse! 6.75 x 11.25" Folds, some discoloration on left side. The Brookland was located on Carbonate Hill between the Morning and Evening Star and Henriette (on the west), the Big Chief (on the south), and Monte Christo and Wolf Tone (on the east). Developments include a shaft 483 feet deep, about 70 feet above where they will make contact. Also have steam hoisting and pumping machinery. Not cancelled. Green border, black print, and vignette that is a bird's-eye view of Leadville! 6.75 x 10.5" Folds, many creases. Not listed in C&L. Newspaper articles mention them on the Aspin Lode and Excelsior Lode in Thompson Gulch, California Mining District.
