This accounting ledger becomes a legal document when R.M. Wright of the general store of Wright, Beverly & Co. in Dodge City brings suite against the cattle company of Con. Edwards from Tascosa, Texas for a balance past due. The year was 1880 and the outfit of Con. Edwards appears to be a cattle company moving cattle the 240 miles from Tascosa to Dodge City; or they are buffalo hunters. R.M. Wright was the founder of Dodge City, Kansas and had a colorful life starting at age 11 when he tends to wounded soldiers during the War of 1812. There are eight pages of ledger and one page affidavit with Wright's signature as well as the court clerk of H.P. Myton. This is a rare opportunity to see the daily operation of a cattle company. The names of Con. Edwards' employees are also listed when paid. 8 in. X 12 in.
