Inc. in Nevada in 1874. Mine in Cornucopia mining district near Jarbridge. No. 13453, issued for two shares to company secretary Dixon on August 5th, 1879 in San Francisco. Signed by president SB Boswell and Dixon. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Nice leopard vignette from Britton & Rey. Pinholes, folds. Light discoloration. According to Thompson and West (1881, p. 393), silver ores were discovered and the district was organized in 1872. The excitement led to the town of Cornucopia. The Leopard Mining Company built a 10 stamp mill which was destroyed by fire. There are two principal mines in the district, the Leopard and the Panther. The Leopard shaft was said to be 5OO ft deep, but the deep workings are caved. (Emmons, 1910, p. 62). Ken Prag Collection
