Lot of 3. 1) Letterhead for Sol Hilp, Dealer in General Merchandise, Ely, Nev., 1893. Agent for Well's Fargo & Co.'s Express, California Powder Co., and Nevada Stage & Transportation Co. Also advertises Bottled Beer. Sol Hilp was Lester's father. He operated businesses in many Nevada mining camps including Mineral City, Taylor, Ward, and Ely. 2) 1949 receipt for Hilp's Drug Store, Sparks, Nevada. 5.5 x 3.5" 3) Prescription slip for the Red Cross Drug Co. Prescription Drug Store, 127 N. Virginia Street. (Owned by Hilp at this time). Hilp clerked for Fred Clark in Ely from 1908-1912, then returned to Reno and took the pharmacy test. He went to work for Charles Weck, then opened a store in Sparks in 1912 before working for TR Cheatham. In 1915, he purchased Harold J. Duncan's Red Cross Drug Store in Reno. He left for WWI but returned in 1917 and bought his store back. He later opened a store in Sparks too. Hilp collected numerous Indian baskets while working in Yerington--this collection is now at the Nevada Historical Society. The drug store operated continuously for over 50 years.
