FH says the story here is totally bogus, an example of a lack of research by dealers. This 1835 handwritten letter from F.R. Peale to J. R. Chadbourne, Esq., Eastport, Maine mentions "Mr. Lincoln" but Abraham Lincoln was in Illinois at the time. The dealer who wrote the previous description also thought Peale was chief coiner for the U. S. Mint, but that was B.F. Peale, not Franklin Peale. Still an interesting letter from 1835.
