This is a letter written by John Henry Kinkead, an important early Nevada politician. Kinkead held several different political offices, in Nevada and Alaska. He served as Nevada's first Territorial Treasurer between 1862 and 1864. He later served as Nevada's third governor between 1879 and 1883. Then, he moved to Alaska and became the first governor of the District of Alaska from 1884 to 1885. This letter was written during his time as Nevada's Territorial Treasurer. It is written to the Territorial Auditor regarding some payments made on territorial warrants. It is dated May 14, 1864. 7.5 x 9.75 inches, good condition.
