Lot of 25 pieces related to the Leviathan Gold Mining Company of Mammoth, Montana. The Mammoth quartz lode was located in the Mineral Hill Mining District in Madison County, Montana. Includes: 1899 message from the Colorado Smelting & Mining Co. regarding 1,000 missing sacks (of ore?) that were perhaps stolen at Jefferson Island on the Northern Pacific; early real photo postcard with pen notations indicating mine locations; application report on the mine intended for the Stevens Copper Handbook, 1913; 1899 state document that Articles of Incorporation have been filed; numerous receipts from the Northern Pacific Railway, 1900; 1900 billhead for hauling ore; typed report pages documenting activity at the mine, 1904-1906; 1904 lease of the mine, mill site, and water rights; 1901 indenture for release of interests in ground on the claim; and By-Laws of the company typed in 1900.
