Large lot of Billheads/Letterheads from various communities in Lewis & Clark County, MT c. 1881 -1918. Included is an order from the Belmont Mining Company dated 1881 as well as correspondence from Foley Brothers & Guthrie, Railroad Contractors and Lumber Manufacturers of Wolf Creek to renowned Helena hardware company A.M. Holter. Included in this collection are a large number of manuscripts from companies/individuals throughout the county, all dated 1880s - 1890s. Along with Belmont and Wolf Creek, other communities represented include Vaughn, Unionville, Stempells, Hogan, Gilman, Gloster, Georgetown, Austin, Dearborn, and Dodge. Note: Lewis & Clark County is located in west central MT and was established in 1865 as one of the nine original counties of the Territory of MT. Originally named Edgerton County in honor of the first Territorial Governor, the named changed in 1868 to honor explorers Merriweather Lewis and William Clark. Helena, the state capital, doubles as the county seat.
