When Portland staged the Centennial Celebration of the Lewis and Clark Exposition in 1905, Farran Zerbe marketed these gold coins "as novel companions to the Lewis and Clark souvenir dollar" which Zerbe was selling for the U. S. Mint. Here are three pieces: two are "1/4" (10 mm; 0.2 grams); one is "1/2" (12 mm; 0.3 grams). Two are AU-BU; one is EF-AU. Obverse:
Mount Hood below five stars; Lettering: L & C EXPO 1905 / MT. HOOD; Reverse:
Fraction 1/2 (1/4) within a wreath of indeterminate branches. Lettering: OREGON / GOLD.
