William Douglas Rosa (1932-1977), the Korean War veteran was an illustration artist from Long Island, who began his career as a freelance artist at age 19. In 1967, a tour in Vietnam, saw Rosa becoming well known for his depictions of the Vietnam War where he was among several artists given a temporary commissions of Lt Colonel by the Marine Corps fine arts program and spent months sketching battlefield scenes.
