Bernard Von Nothaus not only founded the Royal Hawaiian Mint, but created the Liberty dollar and the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act. Von NotHaus was convicted of counterfeiting in 2011, and was also accused of domestic terrorism. He was sentenced to three years of probation, and was released from probation after serving one year. The base value of the Liberty Dollar was $20 to one ounce of silver. This lot includes four Liberty dollar coins: two $5, one $10, and one $20 coins. Currency was also issued: ALD certificates were "warehouse receipts" for real gold and silver owned by the bearer. Eight crisp uncirculated notes: Four $1; one $5; one $10, and one $20 notes are included. Printed on high-grade cotton, the bills have security features such as a hologram, unique serial numbers and a thin line around the edge that appeared decorative but revealed a micro-printed Preamble to the U.S. Constitution when viewed under a magnifying glass. Included is a printed copy of a 2010 article "The Strange Case of The Liberty Dollar," by Adam Jefferson Kirby.
