Location: San Antonio Mining District, Nye County, N.T. (printed under logo). Incorporated May 1864 (handwritten, which is unusual). Dateline Austin, June 29th, 1864. Very low No. 4, issued for 5 shares to J.V.B. Perry. Signed by the president, Geo. Seitz, and secretary, Hyntman. Not cancelled. Vignette of an allegorical woman with an American flag and shield (left side). Printed by W.B. Cooke & Co., SF. 25 cent IR adhesive stamp attached bottom left, pen cancelled. Folds, crease on right edge, small tear, some soiling. JVB Perry was a U.S. Marshall and then constable in Virginia City in 1863/64. He is also later listed as a saloon owner in Eureka, Nevada in the 1884 Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and Arizona Gazetteer and Business Directory. This stock was not in Filer. On May 17th, 1864, the Liberty Silver Mining Company acquired 1400 feet in claims from A. Buehm, A.D. Recabarren, Antonio Elena, Jose Maria Gonzales, Rafael Robles, A.S. Egleston, Justin A. Cook, M. Echandia, A. Robinson, and H.D. Fletcher (Nye County Recorder 1864b, A18). Records appear to show A.D. Recabarran, who was involved in the Liberty Silver Mining Company in mid-1864, specifically shipped ore from the Libertad Ledge in San Antonio to San Pedro Canyon. The San Antonio Mining District was organized in 1863. It was located in a low range of mountains that lie across the south end of Smoky Valley. The original district name was San Antonio, but it was changed to San Antone, the name of a station to the north. San Antone includes the camps of Liberty, on the west side of range, and Cimmaron, at the north end of range. The western section of the original district is now the separate Royston district.
