Lot of five autographs of men involved with Abraham Lincoln: 1) Stephen A. Douglas; Senator from Illinois and presidential opponent; "S. A. Douglas / Chicago Ills"; 3 1/2 x 1 inch. 2) Joseph K. Barnes; Surgeon General of the United States, at Lincoln's deathbed; later administered the autopsy on John Wilkes Booth; large signature on 5 x 7 inch paper. 3) General David Hunter; U. S. Army; president of the military commission trying the conspirators involved with the assassination. 4) James Shields (1810-1879) Brigadier General Shenandoah Valley campaign; 4 x 3 inches; only person to serve as Senator from three different states. 5) Barnes Compton; after Lincoln's assassination was arrested on false information and jailed, but released after four days. Later served in Congress in the 1880s. 3 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches.
