Mourning armband, 3 x 31 inches black gauze. This is accompanied by a one page 5 1/2 x 7 inch period note which states: "Worn at Lincoln's funeral in New York in 1865 by me when I was a member of "C" co. 4th Regt. N. Y. Vols." The writer, Raymond Bell, was the son of Samuel J. K. Bell, an assistant at Ford's Theatre. The armband is in good condition but the note is quite brittle and has been repaired numerous times with tape and is in fair condition.
