Signed by General David Hunter, President of the Military Commission Trial of the Conspirators in Abraham Lincoln's assassination, May 19, 1865. Authorizing admission to "Admit Mr. J. E. Allen and Captain Baker and three friends to the courtroom. Captain Lafayette Baker was the Chief of the Secret Police in Washington, espionage agent for Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton. Penciled on the back is a list of the conspirators: "Mrs. Suratt, Arnold, Payne, Spangler, Dr. Mudd, etc." 3 1/2 x 2 inches, light staining.
