Two of Abraham Lincoln's Treasury Department Secretaries communicate about a revenue collector. Two page 8 x 10 inch letter on Treasury Department letter head. Dated Nov. 6th 1866. A letter signed by H McCulloch as Treasury Secretary to William Fessenden, then a Maine Senator. Fessenden (1806-1869) was Lincoln's second Secretary of the Treasury (1864-5); resigned to serve in the Senate. McCulloch was Lincoln's third Secretary and stayed on into the Johnson Administration. Letter concerns the removal of revenue officers in the state of Maine.
