This "stock" certificate was used by salesmen as an example of the capabilities of the the lithographer, in this case Corlies, Macy & Company lithographers. This lithographed specimen was used to advertise the quality and detail of their printed mining certificates; including fictitious names 'John Hancock' and 'Clarence P. Kiddin', with highly detailed vignette of miners and prospectors working a sluice. "Lithographed specimen from Corlies, Macy & Co. New York. Send For Rates" printed in box between secretary and president signatures. Rare and unique. [New York]
