Location of Mines: Fryer Hill, Leadville, Col. (printed upper right corner). Inc. in New York. No. 9028, issued for 100 shares to Bergen R. Carman on Jan. 16th, 1891. Signed by president Thomas (illegible) and secretary Edward (illegible). Not cancelled. Green border, black print, and underground mining vignette. Pinholes, folds, light toning. 7 x 10.5" Printed by ABN. The Little Chief Mine was one of the richest mines on Fryer Hill with ore bodies up to eighty feet thick. It was located shortly after the Little Pittsburg by four Irish miners: Peter Finerty, Richard and Patrick Dillon, and John Taylor. Production up to April l, 1880 was $2.5 mi11ion. When sorted, 10 to 30% lead and from 20 to 100 oz. silver per ton.
