Carroll "Boot" Locher, c1881 - ? Grew up in Auburn and worked at the family general goods store as a young man. As he grew older and acquired more friends, including lady friends, his correspondence grew with daily life around the Wester particularly in northern California. When Locher was in his early 20s he sought employment with major companies around America. That effort was unsuccessful and he remained an active part of the Auburn workforce throughout his life. Locher took jobs with the county, and was a Placer County auditor in the 1920s and ran for various offices through time. This lot contains about 100-200 letters, numerous business cards and a broadside when he ran for County supervisor in 1952. About 1/3 of the letters have the original covers with contents. Majority of the contents is surrounding his earlier years c1895-1908.
