Bond from the London, South Park and Leadville RR Co. Incorporated in Colorado. Number 48. Issued in 1883. Signed by Herbert R. Smith and H.G. Comstock. Printed by American Bank Note Co. / New York. Size 9.125 by 12.875 inches. In Average condition - heavy folds. Not cancelled. Triple vignette: Miners above and below ground, and a train in the back ground, pulling up hill, and smoking away.. $1000 1st mtg bond. Operated 1882-1885. Successor was the South Park and Leadville Short Line Railroad. According to Poors Manual of Railroads (1887), the railroad's line extended from a point on the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad near London Junction to the London Hill mines, a distance of 7.5 miles. Built by the London, South Park, & Leadville RR Co. with support from Union Pacific.
