Beautiful stock issued in 1891 at Silver City, New Mexico. Low certificate #4, issued for 1000 shares to Henry C. Butcher and signed by John Brockman as president and Thos. S. Heflin as secretary. Nice vignette we haven't seen before of miners in the shaft filling an ore bucket. Ore car to the right. Mines located in Lone Mountain District, Grant County, New Mexico printed under the vignette. Back in 1874, the Lone Mountain Mining Company owned the Mohawk, Rosario and St. Louis veins in the Lone Mountain District, and also had a ten stamp mill built in 1872 (Raymond, 1874). As this certificate has such a low number, this is probably a later incarnation of the same company. VF. Uncancelled. We don't believe we have offered this certificate before. Rare.
