Lot of (3) City of Los Angeles Water Works Bond, 1905. Pristine condition, folded, punch cancelled, with embossed seals. The Los Angeles aqueduct project was begun in 1905 when Los Angeles voters approved a $1.5 million bond for the 'purchase of lands and water and the inauguration of work on the aqueduct'. A second bond was passed June 12, 1907, with a budget of $24.5 million to fund further construction. Construction began in 1908 and was initially divided into eleven divisions. William Mulholland oversaw the construction of the 230-mile aqueduct that carries water from the Owens Valley to Los Angeles. The city acquired (3) limestone quarries, and (2) Tufa quarries. The city also constructed and commenced operations of a cement plant in Monolith, California to aid construction. The full story is long and intensive, also the basis of the 1974 Hollywood movie "Chinatown." Very rare and important to the history of water rights in California. Please inspect. [ California
