By 1887 he was the state printing superintendent of the state of California. We located no information on this mine with a quick search. The Smoky Valley Mining District (more commonly known as the Birch Creek District) shall be bounded as follows to wit. On the west side by the dividing ridge between the waters of Smoky Valley and Reese River Valley on the north by the Overland Stage road on the east by Smoky Valley on the south by a distance of ten miles from Birch Creek. The officers of the district shall consist of a President, Secretary and Recorder elected by those taking part in these proceedings and shall hold their respective offices for six months from the date of their election.
