Okay, now this is eerie. This is a 5"x 7" B&W inscribed photo of actress Lue Velez (1908-1944) "The Mexican Spitfire." that still smells of perfume! The inscription reads "To Eddie Best Luck Always." Velez had a very tumultuous relationship with Gary Cooper, which sort of outshines her accomplishments on film. She was also married to Tarzan actor Johnny Weissmuller for a time. She starred in several comedies where her schtick was mispronunciation. Now the eerie part. This photo is postmarked January 16, 1945. Velaz committed suicide by ingesting 75 Seconal pills and some brandy on December 13, 1944. Now, for all you skeptics out there who ask how someone can sign an autograph a month before. That's taken care of by a small typed piece of paper "This picture was autographed before Miss Velez pased (passed) away." But that's not all. The envelope (Ms. Velez's letterhead) and the contents have the distinct smell of perfume!!! One of the strangest lots I've ever had. Please see photos for more detail and condition.
