A collection of eight letters between offices and individuals related to the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson and Mr. Elijah Mayle, a resident of Canton, Ohio. Mayle made a hobby of collecting the autographs of famous individuals, and sought to obtain the autographs of the President and his wife. Included in the collection are:
- Two letters from President Johnson's office, with letterhead displaying the United States seal and name of the office
- Two letters from Mrs. Johnson's secretary
- A letter from Mayle to General William Westmoreland, returned and signed by the general
- A letter from Mayle to author and historian Merle Miller, who wrote a biography of Johnson, returned and signed by Miller
- An autographed photo of Senator John Pastore
- A letter from historian and author Alfred Steinberg, who wrote about Johnson
No autographs of Lyndon B. Johnson himself are present. [
