There are about fifteen pieces total. That includes the one central piece that is now in three sections. By true definition the term macrolith may not be correctly applied to this lot but THEY ARE BIG. The collection is assembled and held with dowels and cordage to hold them in place. The center piece alone would have been about 19 in. in length when intact. One end shows hafting where it was attached to some kind of shaft. One wonders what size was this man? And what was he doing? None of these pieces have sharp or worked edges. All appear to be hammerstones. All pieces show some kind of work by human hands. This shadow box display has a note inside indicating that the collection was on loan to a museum by Herb Couch of Nawata, Oklahoma. There may not be any correlation as to Oklahoma as the original find site, however it is likely. Quarrying stones occurred in eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas. From the Gary Bracken collection. Please see photos for details.
