This lot has an invoice from Main & Winchester, manufacturers and imports of leather goods in San Francisco, Cal. Proprietors Charles Main and E.H. Winchester were the largest manufacturers of saddles, harnesses, bridles, and whips in northern California. This invoice is written to Hardy and Kennedy a store in Forest Hill, Cal. dated 1859 for snaffle bits, horse hides, whips stock, and rawhides. Framed at 15 in. X 16 in. There are two advertising cards dated 1884 and 1892. An interesting invoice with the California State Prison at San Quintin for harness dressing dated 1903. Signed by the Warden J.H. Thompson. A postcard to Rosewald and Kahn a store in another gold camp, Plymouth, Cal. reinforcing that Main & Winchester were getting settled one week after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. A paper trail from gold towns are extremely rare. Please see photos for details. [ California
