This Slim-Jim holster was made by Main & Winchester of San Francisco to fit the Colt 1851 Navy revolver. The holster is dyed black with an embossed leather stamping of scrolls and flowers barely visible. In very good condition with the Maker's mark still lightly visible. Charles Main and partner Ezra WInchester had to move into a larger building is S.F. after landing a contract with the Pony Express for leather goods including saddles and holsters. The gun carried by the Pony Express rider was the 1851 Navy Colt. In very very good condition surface cracking with a gloss finish still visible in some places, original rivet belt loop. 11 in. overall length made without a plug. c.1860's.
