Lot includes five different notes. In 1875, there was a coin shortage. Curtis of this bank created these bearer checks to pay the miners. The miners refused to accept such a paper currency and demanded payment with gold or silver coins. The miners formed a union and threatened to close the mines if the scrip were issued. At that point, Curtis put these notes in storage. These notes are stunning to look at. Included in this lot is the very rare $100 note. [Austin] [Nevada] [] [] []
