Manson Bicycle Co., 1903, i/uc with bike vignette. Cert #13, signed by George MAnson, datelined New york.Issued to Wm Baird for 30 shares. VF. This may be one of two known certificates surviving. George Manson was issued the first of his bycycle patents in 1898. The vignette on this certificate, his first public company, is of his 1901 patent, which was a motorized version of his bike. The open frame construction was unique. He used foot levers instead of rotary crank and had a two speed transmission. After incorporation and forming the company office in New York, Manson worked with other investors and manufacturers in Chicago and came up with a different motorcycle, which they produced from 1905-1908, their last year.
