This is the only known manuscript postmark and earliest Dun Glen postmark found by Gamett & Nelson. 1866. Manuscript parallel line cancel. Sent to New York. Has original enclosure. From a mining superintendent that is arriving to take over a mine. "... can fill the office of superintendent and financial agent both, there is no necessity of two parties being employed at great expense when one like him can fill both." "We will be ruined if a little money is not sent in a few days..." Very fine and choice early Nevada postmark! Dun Glen was among the earliest settled places in Humboldt County and scene of the 1865 and 1867 Native American uprisings. Additional pages of research on location, names associated with cover, etc. are included. City:Humboldt Co. State:Nevada Date:1866
